Deb Filler Receives outstanding Actress Nomination for 2005 Helen Hayes Awards
Toronto-based writer and actress Deb Filler has received a Best Actress nod from the Helen Hayes Awards in Washington, D.C.
Ms Filler performed her one-woman show FILLER UP at Washington's Metro Stage in the fall of 2004. The show, which chronicles the relationship between the main character and food, was well received by the critics and was a popular hit with audiences.
In the category Ms Filler is nominated in, Outstanding Lead Actress, Non-Resident Production, she is very good company. The other nominees include Leslie Uggams for ON GOLDEN POND at the Kennedy Center, Holly Cruikshank and Juliet Gros in MOVIN' OUT at the National Theatre, and Darcie Roberts in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE at the Kennedy Center. In other categories, nominees include such distinguished performers as James Earl Jones. The Helen Hayes Awards will be presented on Monday, May 9, 2005 at The Warner Theatre.
Ms Filler continues to perform FILLER UP around the world. Recently she played a one-week sold-out engagement at Montreal Centaur Theatre.
